Professional network of film festivals on Art

CODE OF CONDUCT
FAIR PRACTICES

The FILMS ON ART NETWORK supports the idea of a unified global film and art community that promotes a diverse, inclusive, equitable, and just industry. This community is founded on principles of artistic achievement, dynamic filmmaking, mutual respect, freedom of expression, and forward-thinking ideals.
The FILMS ON ART NETWORK firmly opposes any form of bias, offensive language, prejudice, mistreatment, exclusion, or disrespectful conduct based on factors such as gender, ethnicity, religion, background, skin color, belief system, sexual orientation, gender identity, socioeconomic status, caste, disability, or age. The festival rejects sexism, racism, colorism, homophobia, biphobia, interphobia, transphobia, as well as any form of hostility, antisemitism, Islamophobia, fascism, ageism, ableism, or other intersectional discrimination.
Furthermore, the FILMS ON ART NETWORK has a zero-tolerance policy towards any acts of violence, abuse, or harassment, whether verbal, physical, sexual, or otherwise, directed at its attendees, guests, partners, or staff members. In the event of a breach of this Fair Practice Code of Conduct, the FILMS ON ART NETWORK reserves the right to immediately revoke access to its festivals and deny entry to individuals involved. Enhancing working relationships and conditions is essential for fostering a forward-thinking and innovative cultural and creative sector.
Users of the Code of Conduct initiative commit to the following objective:
To collectively advocate for Fair Pay, Fair Share, and Fair Chain principles.
• Promoting fair, sustainable, and transparent operational practices, while considering each other's interests with respect, solidarity, and trust.
- This is in service of cultivating a robust sector that maximizes and capitalizes on the potential and opportunities available to creative professionals and artists.
And to promote and uphold the following core values:
Solidarity
The cultural and creative sector must collectively ensure a strong field. Work is compensated fairly, in accordance with collective agreements and fee guidelines, and is just and reasonable for freelancers. The goal is to distribute resources as equitably as possible within the chain.
Solidarity demands active contributions. Festivals are aware of social and societal issues and are committed to equity.
• Recognizing the significance of flexibility within the sector, offering volunteer or traineeship positions with a clear description of the role, employment conditions, and appropriate compensation.
• The cultural and creative sector must collaboratively cultivate and uphold a robust professional environment by contributing to collective protection and advocacy of interests, and by endorsing educational programs and
entrepreneurship.
• Attention to gender and cultural diversity within the organization and the affected audience.
• Rates that consider vulnerable audiences
Transparency
Transparency is the foundation of trust. Transparency is prioritized in the operational management of organizations. We are open, clear, and accessible about our activities, finances, and decision-making
processes.
• Clear communication about organizational goals at all levels of hierarchy.
• Transparent communication about issues and intentions to the public (no hidden promotion).
• Decision-making bodies and their functioning are made public.
• Accounts and budgets are accessible upon request.
• Knowledge and expertise are exchanged whenever possible, fostering collaboration and mutual growth.
Sustainability
Work is conducted with an emphasis on quality and long-term sustainability. This involves investing in the potential and ongoing growth of professionals in the field, ensuring:
• Provision of opportunities for continuous education and development whenever feasible.
• Regular evaluation as an integral part of collaborative efforts.
It entails the collective endeavour of the sector to establish and adhere to responsible market practices.
Sustainability also pertains to the work itself. A commitment to quality requires care and attention. With the climate crisis exacerbating, the code now applies not only to mutual treatment but also to environmental considerations. The festivals are committed to organizing events that are mindful of climate issues.

• Reasonable mobility
• Responsible printing materials
• Promoting recycling and waste reduction
• Choosing local operators: printing services, translations, or selecting products offered during cocktail-parties
Diversity
We collaborate to promote inclusivity within the sector, encompassing not only cultural or ethnic diversity but also gender, sexual orientation, age, expertise, skills, and socioeconomic status. We acknowledge our responsibility to ensure diversity in audience, programming, staff, and representation in forums and decision-making processes. The internal organizational structure and employment conditions are adjusted as needed to facilitate these objectives.
The FILMS ON ART NETWORK aims to create an environment in which respectful and equitable exchange for all festivals participants can take place. We are against any form of discrimination and will support anyone who, during the festivals, witnesses, experiences or is affected by discrimination.
Trust
Trust is the foundation for cooperation and innovation. Festivals are one-time events that have a long-term responsibility:
• Respect for copyright
• Valuing quality work
Ensuring a healthy work environment where contributors are not erased, not discarded from one edition to another, and not exploited with volunteers without considering them as parties.

• Trust-based work environment for everyone
• Safe and inclusive event.
Ensuring our festivals are welcoming spaces where individuals can be themselves safely: where we are there to ensure the safety of everyone, regardless of who they are.
